A Very Successful Entrepreneur effortlessly creates a successful, profitable, professional business working few hours a day and Has It All - successful business, joyful relationships, happy responsible kids and lots of nourishing me-time. While a Successful Entrepreneur works very hard, works long hours to create success and does not have it all. An Entrepreneur climbs 5 mountains in her journey to be Very Successful. Each mountain is far away from the previous one and multiple times higher. The only way to move from one mountain to another is to climb up to the top and fly to the next mountain. If she hasn't trained and strengthened herself enough, she won't have the strength to fly to the next mountain. She will either fall into the steep drop between the mountains (quick death of the business venture) or get stuck at the mountain she is on (slow death of the business venture). This journey is also a journey of realizing her greatest dreams in deep communion with her highest self.
1. The First Mountain is the Mountain of Purpose on which the entrepreneur inquires into her passion and purpose of life out of which a business idea is born. At the top of this mountain, deep happiness is found. 2. The Second Mountain is the Mountain of Value, on which the entrepreneur breaks multiple business models to identify a missing need in the world; a problem, solving which creates such enormous value that people queue-up to pay for it. At the top of the second mountain is found deep love n gratitude for oneself and for the world around. 3. The Third Mountain is the Mountain of Growth, on which she discovers the engine which will bring together the entrepreneur and people who will benefit from her business value with velocity. At the top of this mountain is found true and sustainable success. 4. The Fourth Mountain is the Mountain of Scale on which the entrepreneur scales up her business. On the top of this mountain is found deep joy. 5. The Fifth Mountain is the Mountain of Mastery on which she creates business and personal mastery. On this mountain is found deep peace and fulfillment. Each mountain requires different business and leadership skills, which the entrepreneur has to train herself on to move from being a victim of her circumstances to a leader who has the power to create everything out of nothing. According to a study in the US, women entrepreneurs who hired employees in the first year of running their business became successful much faster than their peers who didn't. The study also found that women entrepreneurs tend to not hire, keeping their business small in order to maintain work-life balance. That's ironical because 'one-person business' creates greater stress and work-life imbalance than a successful, profitable and professionally managed business. To make that cut-over, requires the founder-entrepreneur to go beyond herself to unleash the leader within. Without transitioning to being an organization with employees, your one-person business is likely to meander along not making a difference to you, your customer or the world. If you did jump the chasm, here is a link with good tips to train your employees to be the growth engine of your organization - http://www.entrepreneur.com/article/247966 Love, Jyoti.
When devastation happens, what could our response be - sadness, anger, frustration, fear, blame. All these emotions lie in the lower vibrational scale and attract more circumstances leading to intensification of these emotions, as per well documented 'Law of Attraction'. As per another study in Canada, negative emotions reduce the effectiveness of the brain. As per Dr Hawkin's deep research of 29 years (third study) - one individual who lives and vibrates to the energy of optimism and a willingness to be non-judgemental of others will counter-balance the negativity of 90,000 individuals who calibrate at the lower weakening levels. Here's my invitation - Instead of investing time in watching gory details of the earthquake and worrying about the state of the world; how about choosing to be optimistic about our country & the world, and choosing to not judge what is happening. How about gratitude for having the resources to support Nepal. This would have our brains be more effective causing breakthrough thinking & actions in getting all of us tiny humans in this vast universe connected in one big hug of love. Love, Jyoti.
After working for 20 years to build a career; one day in August 2010, I gave it all up with no idea of what I was going to do next. It was a heart-wrenching decision. I think it broke my father's heart more than it did mine. Aditya (my husband) couldn't fathom what was going on. I loved the mad corporate rat race but working for 8 hours wasn't enough for me to sustain the growth I had been used to over the years. I was proud to be Vice-President with Citigroup, Director with American Express, managing teams and customers across the globe. But, I was in the US on Anya's 2nd birthday. It was a 5-year mid-life crisis during which I spoke to a lot more women than I had spoken to in all my life earlier, read Mckinsey's detailed research on women professionals in Europe and I realized every woman around the world was going through the same grind. A corporate career simply didn't allow you to be with your kids. At home, other break-downs were happening. Anya had stopped relating to me because I was only there to put her to bed - nothing broke me more than this. Aditya and my relationship was severely stressed because we had no time together. Between a global career and kids at home, I had no time for him or me. One day, I had the courage to finally hang up my corporate boots; without knowing what the future held for me, for divorce conversations had been pretty regular. For the next six months, I dedicated myself fully to being with my children. I loved going to drop and pick them up from school. I used to wonder at the boredom writ large on the faces of other moms coming to pick up their kids because for me, it was a precious gift. Then, Anya, all of 3 years, told me that when she has a baby, she is going to quit her job too to be at home. After six months of being at home, life had become worse - my fights with Aditya escalated because now I would blame him for my decision to quit my job, wanted his continual gratitude for the sacrifice I had made in giving up my lucrative career, my brains were getting pickled with dis-use, found myself more often than not irritated with the kids, going every day to pick them up from school became a tedium. In the midst of it all, I began another very special journey called Mums At Work. I wanted a world where I could be fulfilled not only as a mother, but also as a professional and an individual. I knew deep down, if I could make this available to other women, I would get it for myself. My simple solution to the conundrum faced by women professionals across the world is to become an entrepreneur. I am there when my children have a class performance, are sick, have their piano / football classes, want to invite their friends home. I am passionate about the work I do because in this entire journey, I figured my purpose of life and married that to a missing need in the world to create my business. I am up at 4:00 am, full of energy & enthusiasm till I hit the bed at 10:30 pm, my passion for what I do keeping me alive and joyful. Sure, I still have my breakdowns - I still get irritated with the kids and have fights with Aditya - but who I am has transformed. I have been up since 2:00 am today because both my kids are sick. I am no longer frenzied; but experience deep stillness and love for myself & for the whole world. Love, Jyoti.
